Hello and welcome! I’m Emily, the taste buds behind The Neon Kitchen. I’m a 3D conceptual designer by day and an intrepid recipe tester by night.

I live in Washington, D.C., with my partner LJ, and our sweet fur baby, Ozzy. If you follow me on Instagram, you’re sure to find him in my stories periodically. He is, after all, on perpetual floor-cleanup duty.
I’ve always loved eating, but the notion of cooking the food myself is relatively new. Growing up, I would always find my dad piecing together a meal with nothing but a thought in his head. It wasn’t until after college, when I started traveling, that I became interested in learning to cook and enjoying the food that I cook for myself. I never want to stop exploring. Design, art, a love of great food, and the sense of pure fulfillment that creating gives me are other constants in my world. It’s at the point where all of these passions collide that The Neon Kitchen was born.
Fast forward to present day, and I’m sitting comfortably in the adventure stage of my culinary journey. Every new meal is a blank canvas and coming from my world, that’s pretty amazing. I’m a minimalist at heart, and this blog – in both its design and the recipes within – is a reflection of that. Here you’ll find pescatarian meals that implement mostly whole, single-ingredient foods.

I’m very much looking forward to growing this community of like-minded, food-lovin’ people!
