HOW TO EASILY PEEL GARLIC

May 8, 2020 By The Neon Kitchen Leave a Comment

When I peel garlic, I always manage to stab myself under my fingernails- it never fails. As you can imagine, that makes the process rather uncomfortable.

I don’t remember where I read this trick, but it’s a lifesaver for garlic peeling, especially when I need several cloves peeled. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

  1. Cut off the top and bottom of each clove.

     Discard ends.

  2. Place the cut garlic in a drinking glass.

  3. Shake the Garlic

Place a second glass upside-down over the first, as if it were a shaker for a mixed drink. Hold the two glasses firmly and shake aggressively for 5 to 10 seconds. Make sure to keep the glasses tightly closed.

  4. Remove the Skins

The skins will either be partially removed and easy to pull off, or already completely removed from the cloves. Throw away the skins and enjoy your naked garlic!
